Model-Driven Infrastructure

The Senient Aether is built around the concept of Model-Driven Infrastructure (MDI). The requirements of a service are defined through a YAML-based Service Definition file, and then instantiated into a specified collection of cloud resources, which we call an Environment.

Service Definitions provide portability between clouds and total reproducibility of whole environments.

Decentralized

The Senient Aether is built on globally distributed collections of homogeneous resources that users can allocate to Environments. Resource Pools are operated by a network of independent service providers offering different facility and connectivity features, removing single points of failure or vendor lock-in.

End users can also choose to deploy their own resources on-prem in a fully integrated hyperconverged (HCI) system for increased control or to reduce OPEX.
